Wellow™ Insights - Migration in Portugal

The second edition of Wellow™ Insights, an online event dedicated to discussing issues that matter to business and society, is broadcast on 28 March at 11am.

This time dedicated to the theme of Migration in Portugal, Wellow™ Insights brings together at the table Sónia Pereira - High Commissioner for Migration, Teresa Bacelar - Alderman of the Oeiras Town Council e Luís Castanheira Lopes - Director of Pestana Group.

In moderation of Rui Fiolhais - Vice-President of the Wellow™ GroupThis edition aims to provide a space for debate on migration issues, from the point of view of business and institutional actors, in order to contribute to an inclusive, positive and supportive social perception of the important role of migrants in the present and future of Portuguese society.

Sónia PereiraThe High Commissioner for Migration, brings the vision of an entity whose mission is to collaborate in the definition, implementation and evaluation of public policies on migration, relevant to the attraction, integration and valorisation of migrant communities and people in Portugal. Already Teresa BacelarOeiras Municipal Councillor for Social Development and Health, Youth, Social Responsibility and Housing, the municipal vision, of those who intervene territorially in this matter and implement mechanisms to promote the reception, cohesion and inclusion of foreign citizens, valuing multiculturalism as a factor for local development. Finally, Luís Castanheira LopesThe Pestana Group Director, the example of those who integrate migrant professionals into their workforce, whose good practices and testimony are worth sharing.

Rui Fiolhais, Vice-President of the Wellow™ Group, says that "theging by demonstration and example, we believe it is possible to contribute to influencing positive practices in companies and society. With this debate, we seek to extend them to the reception and integration of migrant citizens". Recognising the importance of this issue, in 2023 the Wellow™ Group's Corporate Social Responsibility plan integrates a set of actions aimed at debating and raising awareness of the migration issue in Portugal, adds Rui Fiolhais.

This event marks the start of these activities, which will include actions as diverse as awareness-raising campaigns or job fairs.
