Carbon Footprint

Mobility Week 2022

Do you know what your Carbon Footprint is?

With the worsening of climate change, which has occurred in recent years due to the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, it is increasingly important that companies know the impact that their activities have on the environment.

It is in this context that the need for companies to calculate their carbon footprint arises, so that they can not only quantify their respective contributions to climate change through greenhouse gas emissions, but also act positively in minimising their impact!

What is this Carbon Footprint anyway?

The Carbon Footprint represents the total volume of greenhouse gases (GHG) generated by human economic and everyday activities, expressed in tonnes of CO2 equivalent (t CO2eq).

Knowledge of the carbon footprint allows companies to act and implement the necessary measures to reduce as much as possible their impact on the planet, reduce their ecological footprint and improve the quality of life.

What is the commitment of the Wellow Group?

Aware of the impact of its activity on the environment, the Wellow™ Group has, over recent years, been consolidating its commitment to protecting the environment and advocating a sustainable growth model.

The Wellow™ Group is responsible - directly and indirectly - for the emission of several greenhouse gases, the most important of which is C02, which result mainly from energy consumption in the facilities and the use of its internal fleet. In 2021, the carbon footprint of the Wellow™ Group's internal fleet was 1402.2 tonCO2eq, the equivalent of 4000 car rides to Portugal. There was also a reduction of 18% in average fuel consumption compared to the previous year, due to the inactivation of BUS Services, maintenance of telecommuting and the acquisition of 50 electric vehicles.

Continuing its commitment to decreasing its carbon footprint, the Wellow™ Group has set targets for 2022:

  • Electrification of at least 20% internal fleet
  • Extension of ISO 14001:2015 Certification to all Human Resources and Outsourcings brands
  • Installation of photovoltaic panels at the Group's logistics centres and central services
  • Strategy paperless in all offices and logistics hubs
  • More environmentally aware supplier management policy

Fortunately, the current social and business trend has been increasing its awareness and commitment to the environment, carrying out actions that are increasingly sustainable and beneficial to the planet.

So, are you ready to take on the challenge of reducing your carbon footprint and that of your company?
